A POSSIBLE TALE is a dynamic video series on cities that allows one to "travel" and observe other cultures and places. It introduces cities of the world through the multiple views and comments of many different people who lived or visited that specific place at the time. The stories of a city and its inhabitants are inevitably and intrinsically linked, thus; with the aid of these voices I am able to set up my own path and feel of the city, to make London, Miami, Paris, Oaxaca, among others, more accessible. It explores and registers a collective existencial memory of a place and time. Each story uses the country's original spoken language, as the viewer is the one supposed to adapt to the place he/she decides to approach.
These videos - when displayed in an individual and specifically-designed phone-booth - grant the spectator certain intimacy and the opportunity to choose to contemplate one city over another. The phone-booth was, and maybe still is, a common object/structure that embodies an easy-to-use, communication-bridge that is accessible to anyone. It isolates their users from the surrounding noise and people so they can focus on the remote interlocutor. They can be far off yet staying exactly where they are.
